The history of The Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union #44 Spokane, Washington started when it was chartered on August 22nd, 1890.

The Jurisdiction that Local #44 covers is Northeastern Washington, and Northern Idaho.

The object of this United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada is to protect its members from unjust and injurious competition, and secure through unity of action among “all workers” of the industry throughout the United States and Canada.
The members of Local #44 are the people who have built and maintained all the piping systems at Fairchild A.F.B., the local hospitals, schools, industrial plants and pipelines in their jurisdiction. Whenever the need for skilled piping craftsmen is required, the journeyman members and apprentices step up to the plate and do the job, on time, and under budget. Apprenticeship training, and Journeyman Continuous Education, is what fuels the strength of its membership. Working in harmony with the Signatory Contactors has created a machine that cannot be topped.
